Thought you had more faith in me than that. I'm hurt. [Hey, he's still alive, and he's making his way over to the Sigyn door right now. It's a little slow-going, considering the mass of people crammed into the castle.] I'm coming, you okay?
Yeah, just a little put off by the fact that I could've been stuck out there myself. [A big ol' sigh.] I'm starting to think you've been right all this time about me being the stupid one.
Always was, but I'm beginning to think some of it rubbed off on me. [Because he barely managed to make it inside in time himself, honestly. He breathes out.] I'm fine, before you ask. A little shaken up, but fine.
[He's actually incredibly shaken by all this, but he's pushing all that aside to deal with for later. First things first, find Steve. Then worry about everything else.]
As long as you're still in one piece. [And suddenly it's a really good thing he decided to do this audio-only, because the way he winces would say in a heartbeat what a touchy subject he just brushed past.]
I hope you don't have any Avengers problems, because I'm waiting to see if any of the others will show up, too.
Long story short, the future's like something out of comic books, and that includes some of the people. [By the sound of his voice, he still isn't quite sure what's going on there, either.] It'll be fun, though, like Howard's Expo.
[There's a huff of laughter, there. Oh, yes, he remembers Howard's Expo, and looking back on it now he feels a little nostalgic. Things had seemed easier then, more clear-cut, compared to now.]
I'm gonna need the longer version when we're not crammed in a castle. [And when he can find some really good beer.] Hey, I never got to ask--did Stark ever fix that flying car he showed off at the Expo?
[Laughter is good, very reassuring after the way everything shook out at home. Less clear-cut doesn't begin to describe it.] It's not exactly standard issue, but yeah, he made it work. His son, though, Tony, he's here, and don't tell him I said this but he makes Howard's flying car look like amateur work. [Yes, okay, Stark is also a bit of an ass like his dad, but flying robot suit.]
He's got a kid? [This is the tone of someone who's pretty sure he probably should've seen that coming, but is still a little surprised. Howard Stark. Married. And with a kid, hoo boy.] He's not gonna hear anything from me. If he's anything like his dad I'm betting he's got an ego bigger than the Empire State.
